DESCRIPTION:The two-day workshop provides the opportunity to gain a thoro
 ugh introduction to the software and practice tasks using one’s own data
 . The focus is on gaining confidence in the early tasks of setting up pr
 ojects efficiently\, exploring and coding data whilst having an eye on l
 onger term tasks. This is an NVivo 11 for Windows course. Participants u
 sing the Mac version are welcome to attend but the main part of the cour
 se will cover the functions available for the Windows version\, which ar
 e not all the same for the Mac version.\n\nThe first day uses sample dat
 a in order to become familiar with tools and functions\, following throu
 gh common tasks as a group and practicing exercises as individuals. Work
  is structured to provide step-by-step support for commonly used early s
 oftware tools\, with others demonstrated to illustrate longer-term poten
 tial.\n\nThe second day provides participants with the opportunity to ge
 t started using NVivo with their own project data. This may comprise int
 erview/focus-group transcripts\, audiovisual data\, documentary evidence
  etc. The first part of the day focuses on translating the tasks explore
 d on day one into practice. Individuals and teams work independently wit
 h the support of the tutor. The remainder of the day focuses on experime
 nting with more sophisticated interrogation tools. Possibilities and imp
 lications are discussed\, demonstrated and practiced.\n\nCourse objectiv
 es:\n-	To provide an overview of the potential uses of NVivo for qualita
 tive and mixed methods research\n-	To provide an understanding of the ro
 le of NVivo in the research cycle\n-	To enable participants to set-up an
  NVivo project that reflects the research design and analytic needs of t
 heir project\n-	To provide participants with hands-on practice with oper
 ating the software\n-	To provide participants with a long-term view of t
 heir potential use of NVivo\n-	To enable participants to plan for their 
 continued use of NVivo within the context of their methodology and analy
 tic strategy\n\nPrerequisites: This workshop assumes no prior knowledge 
 about NVivo. However\, those that have already started using NVivo can b
 ring their work with them and continue with it during the workshop. Part
 icipants do not need data to participate in this workshop\, as sample da
 ta can be provided\, however participants will get more out of the works
 hop if they bring their own research materials – this may be literature 
 files\, transcripts of interview or focus-group discussions\, etc. field
