DESCRIPTION:For teachers of A-level History\, English Literature and/or F
 ilm Studies  \n\nThe University of Manchester’s American Studies program
 me is delighted to announce a workshop for teachers of A-Level subjects 
 involving US content and themes. In particular the event will cover rele
 vant US material for A-Levels in History\, Film\, and English Literature
  (all leading examination boards addressed). Attendees will hear short p
 resentations on US historical topics\, such as the civil rights movement
  and Cold War\; overviews of key literary periods and interpretations of
  individual writers and texts\, such as Toni Morrison\; readings of some
  contemporary US films\; and will be introduced to new sources\, resourc
 es\, and recent scholarly interpretations. There will also be a brief ov
 erview of how to work with students on US topics around EPQs.\nAttendanc
 e is free and light refreshments will be provided\, along with a certifi
