  what else? Observations in network growth over time” \nThe temporal cha
 nges in complex systems of interactions have excited the research commun
 ity in recent years as they encompass understandings of their dynamics a
 nd evolution. From the collective dynamics of organizations and online c
 ommunities to the spreading of information and fake news\, to name a few
 \, temporal dynamics are fundamental in the understanding of complex sys
 tems. Here\, we will review our findings on the role of trends in networ
 k evolution and the detection and understanding of engagement in dynamic
  complex systems of interactions. We focus on interaction networks for w
 hich the dynamics of the interactions are coupled with that of the topol
 ogy\, such as online messaging\, forums\, and emails. We define two indi
 ces to capture the temporal level of engagement: the Temporal Network (e
 dge) Intensity index and the Temporal Dominance Inequality index. Our su
 rprising results are that these measures are stationary for most measure
 d networks\, regardless of vast fluctuations in the size of the networks
  in time. The indices are stable between the temporal evolution of a net
 work but are different between networks\, and a classifier can determine
  the network the temporal indices belong to with high success. We find a
 n exception in the Enron management email exchange during the year befor
 e its disintegration\, in which both indices show high volatility throug
 hout the inspected period.\n
