DESCRIPTION:Speakers: Wendy Olsen and Arkadiusz Wisniowski (University of
  Manchester)\n\nJoin us on Zoom!\nhttps://zoom.us/j/91458711542\nMeeting
  ID: 914 5871 1542\n\nWe model of India’s pandemic vulnerability in an i
nnovative way. We create and estimate a multi-disciplinary model of the
risk of severe COVID-19 and death. Our model allows for socio-demographi
 c-group differentials in risk\; obesity\; underweight people\; co-morbid
ities\; and other regional and lifestyle factors. We map the results for
11 states. We use three different data sources: the National Family Hea
lth Survey for 2015/6\, Census data for 2011\, and data for COVID-19 dea
ths up to June 2020. COVID-19 deaths in north and central India were hig
her in areas with older and overweight populations\, and were more commo
n among people (mainly men) who smoke\, or who live in urban areas. Poli
cy experts may want to use the disaggregated and spatially-specific data
to improve wellbeing outcomes during the pandemic. The future uses of o
ur innovative data-combining model are numerous.\n
