In this Afternoon Seminars@CMIST event, Mark Shephard from the University of Strathclyde will deliver a talk entitled 'Social media and the independence referendum'.
Abstract:
Using content analysis and experimental methods, I explore how bad it got online during the Scottish Independence Referendum (Twitter versus Have Your Say) as well as the impact of negative social media on voting preferences. I also look at social media patterns of support in the run up to the vote as an early warning of public opinion shifts.
No need to register; all welcome!
