  Economics at\nthe University of California\, Berkeley. He has been Visi
 ting Professor/Fellow at Trinity\nCollege\, Cambridge\, St. Catherine's 
 College\, Oxford\, and London School of\nEconomics. He held the Distingu
 ished Fulbright Siena Chair at the University of Siena\,\nItaly in 2008-
 9. He was the BP Centennial Professor at London School of Economics\nfor
  2010 and 2011.He has done theoretical and field studies research in the
  interdisciplinary\narea of economics\, political science\, and social a
 nthropology. He is the\nauthor of 13 books and editor of 12 other books\
 , and author of more than 150 journal\narticles. Among his latest books 
 are Awakening Giants\, Feet of Clay: Assessing the\nEconomic Rise of Chi
 na and India (Princeton University Press) and Scarcity\, Conflicts and\n
 Cooperation: Essays in Political and Institutional Economics of Developm
 ent (MIT Press).
