 s changing\, with a new emphasis of the process of recovery from depende
 nce which\, as the government’s own strategy notes\, means “different th
 ings to different people”. There are a multitude of routes to recovery. 
 Factors that promote or inhibit recovery have both individual and social
  dimensions and the recovery process requires a ‘whole systems’ approach
  that goes far beyond current treatment interventions. The localism agen
 da may result in substantial diversity in approaches to promoting recove
 ry. How should researchers make sense of this complex landscape and how 
 can research best provide evidence to inform the shifting emphasis? The 
 aim of this meeting is to start to identify a set of key questions aroun
 d which we can develop proposals for research and to identify a core gro
 up of colleagues to take those questions forward.\n\nThis is an interact
 ive\, interdisciplinary workshop\; it’s an opportunity for researchers\,
  clinicians /addiction treatment personnel\, policy makers and postgradu
 ate students from different backgrounds to share expertise\, hear new re
 search\, develop collaborations and investigate the possibilities for jo
