What is Calendargrads?
Science, Engineering and Technology industries lose 70% of female graduates per year! The aim of Calendargrads is simple, to encourage more young female graduates to pursue a career within the SET industry, opening eyes to possible careers and therefore working towards a more balanced, talented and enthusiastic workforce. We feel that there is a significant shortage of role models in both academia and industry. This calendar has been sponsored by some of the top firms within the industry, including Rolls Royce plc. Atkins Defence, DBD ltd and nucleargraduates. Each month will focus on female role-models from one of the sponsoring companies, highlighting their careers, interest and experience, as well as providing company information, job application dates, careers and networking events.
In October 2013 the calendargrads campaign will be launched in five of the top Science & Engineering universities across the UK, holding interactive sessions where the focal point of the campaign, the calendar, will be given for free to all STEM students. The launch events are to include interactive discussion panels with a range of academic institutions and sponsoring companies, as well as inspirational talks highlighting career paths available. In addition to everything else, the event will provide free food and the potential to win a NEXUS 7 tablet!!
Calendargrads is in affiliation with the Women's Engineering Society (WES) and Women in Science and Engineering (WISE). In addition, calendargrads are supported by various professional institutions including the IET Women's Network, the IMechE, the Royal Society of Chemistry, the IChemE, the IoP and NSAN. Additionally, WES have offered free student membership to the first 500 students!
