DESCRIPTION:MRC Come and See are delighted to invite UoM DTP students to 
 a virtual workshop by Dr Joanna Stanley on the 3R's and alternatives to 
 animal models!   \n\nAlthough the use of animals in research has been ke
 y to some of the biggest scientific and therapeutic advances\, ethical q
 uestions about their use remain. This workshop will introduce some of th
 ese concepts\, and demonstrate how applying the 3Rs (replace\, reduce an
 d refine) can help address them\, improving animal welfare and ensuring 
 the highest quality scientific research. \n\nDr Joanna Stanley\, the NC3
 Rs Regional Programme Manager for the University of Manchester\, will be
  joined by colleagues and researchers to outline funding opportunities a
 nd other resources available to support the development\, validation and
  commercialisation of models and technologies that replace the use of an
