DESCRIPTION:Professor Keith Grainge\nUniversity of Manchester\n\nThe Squa
 re Kilometre Array (SKA) will be the world’s largest and most sensitive 
 radio telescope. It will address fundamental unanswered questions about 
 our Universe including how the first stars and galaxies formed after the
  Big Bang\, how the mysterious “dark energy” is accelerating the expansi
 on of the Universe\, the role of magnetism in the cosmos\, the nature of
  gravity\, and the search for life beyond Earth. The SKA will be a huge 
 industrial project and in particular will be an exemplar Big Data projec
 t\, with very challenging data transport and data processing requirement
 s.\n\nPre-lecture dining is available in the Planet Pavilion Café.\n\nOu
 r award winning cafe will be serving delicious pre-lecture dinners. Why 
 not indulge in an evening treat?\n\nSittings are at 6.00pm\, 6.15pm 6.30
