Who Says What: Identities and Natural Language Inference to Study the Spread of Health Misinformation on Social Media
Health misinformation on social media undermines public trust and puts people’s health at risk. This talk explores the limitations of current methods for understanding influence on social media, particularly in relation to the spread of misinformation. It advocates for shifting the focus to identities as a way to better understand how influencers engage with different audiences. The talk demonstrates how focusing on identities reveals how people adapt their messages to their audiences within socio-semantic networks. Additionally, it proposes leveraging Natural Language Inference (NLI) to analyse how claims spread, amplify, or mitigate misinformation.
