Remembering Jallianwala Bagh, Multi-Faith Prayer
Sat 13 Apr – 12pm
Join representatives from Manchester’s Gurdwaras as they come together for a 100 second silence to mark 100 years since the Jallianwala Bagh massacre, and take part in a multi-faith prayer in remembrance.
For the first time in Indo-UK history, two Museums located in cities deeply affected by colonialism, Amritsar and Manchester, have come together to re-examine the brutal massacre that eventually brought about the end of the British empire in India. ‘Jallianwala Bagh 1919: Punjab under Siege’ is a collaborative exhibition between Manchester Museum, and the Partition Museum (set up by The Arts and Cultural Heritage Trust), Amritsar, India on display from 11 April – 2 October 2019.
With thanks to Damesh Sikh Temple, Siri Goband Singh Gurdwara Educational and Cultural Centre, Siri Guru Singh Sabha Gurdwara – Sikh Association, Siri Guru Harkrishan Sahib Trust and Guru Nanak Gurdwara.
