 n in December 2019.\n\nJoin us for OBHC 2020 in Manchester\, one of the 
 UK’s most vibrant and cosmopolitan cities. This biennial conference\, th
 e primary activity of the Society for Studies in Organizing Healthcare (
 SHOC)\, will be hosted by Alliance Manchester Business School at The Uni
 versity of Manchester.\n\nConference theme\n\n‘Managing Healthcare Organ
 isations in Challenging Policy Contexts: Integration or Fragmentation?’\
 n\nThe conference theme is inspired by the pioneering role of Greater Ma
 nchester in implementing devolved arrangements for the provision of heal
 th and social care. We aim to investigate how contemporary policy trends
 \, which are often infused with internal tensions and contradictions\, a
 re influencing healthcare systems\, organisations and professions. We wi
 ll also explore the various ways in which policy implementation could be
  enacted\, resisted and reinvented by healthcare managers and profession
 als on the ground.\n\nA wide range of contributions is anticipated\, inc
 luding\, but not limited to\, the following topics:\n\n• The interplay b
 etween healthcare policy formulation\, piloting and implementation\;\n\n
 • Consequences of policy-led restructuring for healthcare workforce and 
 patient populations\, as well as for service delivery and innovation\;\n
 \n• Insights into novel organisational forms and practices\, such as par
 tnerships\, collaborations\, multidisciplinary teams and integrated orga
 nisations\;\n\n• Variability of local contexts and regional economies an
 d their effects on people\, policy and practice\;\n\n• Politics of knowl
 edge mobilisation as a bridge between research\, policy\, management and
  clinical practice\;\n\n• Strategies used by healthcare professionals\, 
 managers and patients to influence\, implement\, neutralise or resist he
 althcare policy initiatives\;\n\n• Longitudinal studies of organising an
 d re-organising in healthcare\, reflecting the evolution of policies and
  practices over time\;\n\n• The role of technology and data in enacting\
 , modifying and subverting policy-mandated practices.
