“Nuclear Weapons: Mishaps, Mistakes and Madness”
A Politics talk by Bryan Kelly, CND Peace Education
1-2pm, 7 February, Hanson Room in Humanities Bridgeford Street.
Introduced and chaired by Dr Sandra Pogodda, Lecturer in Peace and Conflict Studies, Politics.
Abstract: North Korea has put nuclear weapons back on the map, but the actual risks we all face are far greater. The talk will cover the risks from accidents and miscalculations involving nuclear weapons, and the very real danger of terrorist acquisition. Possible ways to reduce the danger will also be covered.
Bio: Bryan has worked nearly 30 years in the nuclear industry, both in the nuclear power and nuclear defence sector. He now volunteers with CND Peace Education, and delivers talks and workshops in schools and colleges on peace and nuclear weapon issues.
