 tice for the 21st Century?

DESCRIPTION:Social acceptability remains a critical challenge for nuclear
energy and\, especially\, for new technologies such as small modular re
actors (SMRs). While significant efforts are being made to understand t
he sources of public attitudes to nuclear energy and to improve public e
ngagement at all stages of technology development and deployment\, littl
e has been done for policy analysis and advice to decision makers. The
Energy Justice Initiative seeks to bring together researchers across dis
ciplines to address problems of energy scarcity and energy insecurity ar
ound the world. Applying an energy justice approach to the analysis of t
he case for SMRs can significantly alter the range of policy options and
how these options are presented in the broader policy process.
