 ullivan is a China specialist and political scientist. Since visiting th
 e country for the first time in 1993\, he has spent more than twenty yea
 rs learning and using Chinese\, including studying for a BA in Chinese S
 tudies at the University of Leeds. He has Masters degrees in Asia Pacifi
 c Studies (University of Leeds) and Political Science (University of Not
 tingham) and completed his PhD at the University of Nottingham in 2010\,
  under the supervision of Cees van der Eijk\, Will Lowe and Phil Cowley.
  Dr Sullivan is interested in most aspects of Chinese life\, from his sp
 ecialist research on political behavior and political communications to 
 distinctly amateur interests in Chinese literature\, movies\, music\, an
 d\, naturally\, food.\n\nIn the School of Contemporary Chinese Studies a
 t the University of Nottingham\, Dr Sullivan is Director of Research. He
  regularly writes for the international media\, including the New York T
 imes\, Wall Street Journal\, Forbes\, The National Interest\, South Chin
 a Morning Post\, China Daily among others\; and is frequently cited in t
