DESCRIPTION:We intend to host a truly interdisciplinary conference\, invi
 ting delegates and speakers from a range of disciplines which explore ge
 nder in some way.\n\nThe one day conference will bring together research
 ers from UK universities\, however it will be organised and chaired by s
 tudents representing the three NWDTC institutions and will be based at L
 ancaster University. 2013 witnessed the first successful gender conferen
 ce of what we hope will be an annual event. This was held at the Univers
 ity of Liverpool. In keeping with the desire to make this a cross instit
 utional event\, we will apply to host the conference at the University o
 f Manchester in 2015. Although not an official conference of the NWDTC\,
  we hope to adopt and cultivate these links in a similar manner via this
  annual conference.\n\nWe aim to provide a venue for new and experienced
  researchers to network with similar disciplines and students\, to discu
 ss their work and to share best practice and differing perspectives. Thi
 s conference will provide excellent experience for students of the schoo
 l of attending academic conferences and even presenting their own work. 
 Question and answer session can offer new insight and thoughts on a them
 e\, which can help existing researchers to develop their research and ga
 in useful feedback on their work in progress.\n\nThrough this conference
 \, the current and potentially future generations of researchers can gai
 n a wider and more varied understanding of the impact of gender upon var
 ious disciplines and the research which is conducted. This will also ass
 ist researchers to understand and discuss the impact of gender upon thei
 r own ideas and work.\n\nSome of the themes which this conference will a
 ddress include: methods and methodology\; gender history\; gender and so
 ciety\; gender\, crime and the law\; gender politics and discrimination\
 ; gender and war/peace/conflict/terrorism and so on. We have chosen to a
 llow a broad range of themes\, to ensure a high level of interest and pa
 rticipation and because gender is an integral and inescapable factor in 
 all aspects of life both historically and in contemporary times.\n\nThe 
 lack of interdisciplinary\, gender based and student led initiatives mea
 ns that this conference will offer a unique and previously unavailable o
 pportunity to discuss their work within a friendly\, student orientated 
 environment.\n\nIt is hoped that a wide spectrum of papers\, addressing 
 a range of issues\, will be included in this conference and papers focus
 sing on issues surrounding masculinity will be particularly welcomed.
