The Global Mental Health and Cultural Psychiatry research group is pleased to announce that the 7th Culture and International Mental Health Conference will return to Manchester on Wednesday 8th November 2017.

The central theme of the conference is suicide and self-harm prevention and will cover topics such as self-harm and suicide among young people, suicide in low-middle income countries, suicide prevention and driving change. Up to 450 million individuals worldwide suffer from mental health problems and in 2012, 804,000 suicides occurred globally. WHO have reported that in high income countries approximately 17.6% of deaths in young adults (15 – 29) were attributed to suicides and 90% of suicides were linked to mental health problems.
