Since its launch in 2018, the Greater Manchester Cyber Foundry (GMCF) programme has supported over 130 businesses with business growth, stability, and security. The programme has delivered workshops and knowledge sessions to explore ways of using cyber security techniques and technologies to protect their operations and systems, and to develop products and services.

As part of our commitment to nurturing the cyber ecosystem in Greater Manchester, GMCF are running a cyber security clinic in partnership with F-Secure to provide insight and expertise that will enable businesses to defend, innovate and grow.

The clinic aims to enhance the support GMCF delivered to businesses. More specifically, the clinic aims to deliver:

· Bespoke cyber security-related guidance and advice from industry experts · Tips and tricks for handling cyber security threats · Impartial advice on products and services that are available to SMEs

The agenda will be needs-based, and we are requesting anyone interested in attending to complete this short survey that will inform what we deliver. We ask those registering to complete the survey as soon as possible.

Further information: Cyber security is a growing concern for businesses. A recently published government report revealed 72% of businesses have experienced at least one cyber security incident (including phishing) in the last year. These attacks can directly lead to loss of money , data and staff time to recover from business disruption. The average cost of a cyber security breach is estimated to be £8,460, raising to over £13,000 for larger organisations. The global pandemic has expanded cyber activity, changing the way we live and work, and accelerated the need for detection, prevention, and recovery from cyber-attacks. Although cyber security relates to reducing risk and building resilience, it also presents opportunities for businesses to adapt and evolve in a rapidly changing operational environment through innovation and growth.
