DESCRIPTION:In this dialogic talk\, Dr. Eve Mayes will share some of the 
 textures\, tremors and murmurs of voice felt over ten years of ethnograp
 hic and participatory research in Australian schools – from research enc
 ounters with students and puppets\, to school governance council meeting
 s\, to school reform evaluation processes\, to students’ political activ
 ism.\n\nDr. Eve Mayes is an educator and researcher who lives on unceded
  Wadawurrung Country\, Australia. She is a Senior Research Fellow and Se
 nior Lecturer in Education at Deakin University (Research for Educationa
 l Impact). She has ten years of experience as an English and English as 
 an Additional Language teacher and head teacher in government secondary 
 schools in NSW. In 2022\, she was a member of the Board of Trustees for 
 the VicSRC\, the peak body representing school-age students in Victoria.
  Eve’s research centres around questions of voice\, agency and justice i
 n and beyond formal schooling. She is currently leading the project: Str
 iking Voices: Australian school-aged climate justice activism (Australia
 n Research Council\, Discovery Early Career Research Fellowship\, 2022-2
 025). She is committed to critical\, creative and participatory forms of
  research that are fuelled by and responsive to young people’s concerns.
