The UK Data Service is holding a webinar on e-resilience of UK retail centres as part of a series showcasing research using new and novel forms of data.
This is a collaborative webinar involving Margherita Ceraolo from the UK Data Service and Dr Les Dolega from the Consumer Data Research Centre, at the University of Liverpool.
Margherita Ceraolo will introduce Phase 2 of the Big Data Network and will highlight the research opportunities and potential of the data available through the Network.
Dr. Les Dolega will give an overview of the study he conducted on e-resilience of UK retail centres. The aim of the research was to investigate the resistance and adaption of retail centres to the impact of online sales. The Oxford Internet Survey (OxIS), a survey of internet use in Britain, UK 2011 Census and Internet infrastructure data were used to obtain Internet User Classifications and retail centre catchment profiles, which in turn, were intersected with the retail supply vulnerability index derived from Local Data Company (LDC) retail data on town centres occupancy.
