DESCRIPTION:This year marks the 250th anniversary of the birth of Hugh Bo
 urne\, the co-founder of the Primitive Methodist movement. Primitive Met
 hodists were known for their direct preaching style. Bourne\, a fervent 
 orator and leader\, supported children’s education\, adult bible literac
 y\, and women’s involvement in the movement. \n\nOn Saturday 5th March w
 e invite visitors to come and see original letters and notebooks that be
 longed to the man who shaped the religious and social lives of thousands
  of people. Drop-in to the Historic Reading Room of the John Rylands Res
 earch Institute and Library to take a look\, and to find out more about 
 the Rylands’ extensive Methodist collections.\n
