UID:{http://www.columbasystems.com/customers/uom/gpp/eventid/}y1dq-lgnsss
 15-414slm
DESCRIPTION:International PhD researchers are a significant proportion of
the university’s PGR community. \n\nHowever\, there is often limited sp
ace for reflecting on how supervision relationships and practices can be
developed to be more internationally and interculturally inclusive. \n\
nIn this session\, participants can expect to reflect on the processes o
f working within internationalised supervision teams\, considering the c
ommon transitions experienced by international PhD researchers and the a
ssumptions often made by their supervisors. \n\nThis will be organised a
cross the lifecycle of a PhD – from recruitment to experiences within th
e programme to considerations for supporting transitions towards employm
ent. \n\nAltogether\, participants will leave this session with a greate
 r understanding of easy-to-implement and longer-term-thinking strategies
for creating a more inclusive learning environment when supervising int
ernational students.\n\nD?r Jenna Mittelmeier is a Senior Lecturer in th
e Manchester Institute of Education. Her research focuses broadly on the
internationalisation of higher education. In particular\, she is intere
sted in practices with international students\, including the ways they
are framed by their universities and wider host societies.\n\nBook in-pe
