DESCRIPTION:This is a course on the New Academics and Fellows programme H
 owever\, those outside of this programme may attend if they feel this wo
 uld be beneficial to them and are welcome to register.\n\nThis lesson wi
 ll explore the challenges and benefits of distance learning and look at 
 methods to ensure students studying remotely have an excellent learning 
 experience. It will also examine ways to create effective teaching and l
 earning materials (including facilitated discussions and sustainable ass
 essments) for distance learning students.\n\nIntended Learning Outcomes:
 \n-Identify and understand common problems faced by instructors when tea
 ching distance learning.\n\n-Identify and understand common problems fac
 ed by distance learning students.\n\n-Investigate the distance learning 
 approaches being implement at the University of Manchester.\n\n-Explore 
 useful technologies and methodologies to diversify online teaching to di
