DESCRIPTION:A one-day event hosted by the Centre for Translation and Inte
 rcultural Studies (CTIS) at the University of Manchester for new and exp
 erienced interpreters\, supporting professional development in settings 
 where survivors of abuse and violence require interpreting services. The
  programme includes talks and interactive sessions designed to inform pa
 rticipants about the range of services available to support survivors an
 d approaches to interviews\, risk assessment and therapeutic counselling
 . The event aims to enable participants to identify issues and resources
  for effective pre-assignment preparation\, develop strategies for manag
 ing expectations and emotions during and after assignments and better un
 derstand service provider goals and duties of care. \n\nThe event is fre
