 r will focus briefly on the two main themes which have dominated the ext
 reme right research agenda: the debate about the nature of extreme-right
  parties in Europe today and the reasons for their electoral success or 
 failure. It will then chart a series of new research questions in the fi
 eld of extreme right studies\, such as the manifestations of extreme-rig
 htism beyond the realm of party politics and the contributions of new di
 sciplines to a field traditionally dominated by historians and political
  scientists.
