 in resource-constrained environments\n\n\nAbstract:\n\nThis study explor
 es the concept of frugal entrepreneurship in resource-constrained enviro
 nments by drawing on the theories of effectuation\, bricolage\, and caus
 ation. Through an abductive analysis of 21 entrepreneurial cases pursuin
 g frugal innovation in emerging markets\, a conceptual model of frugal e
 ntrepreneurship is developed to explain venture formation in resource-co
 nstrained environments and identify the relationship with frugal innovat
 ion. The findings reveal a high prevalence of effectuation and bricolage
  among socially-driven frugal entrepreneurs. However\, among commerciall
 y-driven frugal entrepreneurs\, causation approach is prevalent. The dif
 ferent bricolage types are clustered into those used for operational\, i
 nternal activities and those used for relational\, external activities. 
 Mostly\, frugal innovation led to frugal entrepreneurship\, though the r
 everse also occurred\, and they were independent of each other too. Impl
 ications for entrepreneurship theory and practice are outlined along wit
 h suggestions for future research.\n\n\nDr. Mokter Hossain is an Assista
 nt Professor at the Center for Entrepreneurship\, College of Business an
 d Economics\, Qatar University. Previously\, he worked at Manchester Uni
 versity\, Aalborg University\, Aalto University\, and Imperial College L
 ondon. His research interests lie at the intersection of innovation\, en
 trepreneurship\, and strategy on topics such as frugal innovation\, open
  innovation\, crowdsourcing\, crowdfunding\, sharing economy\, etc. His 
 research has appeared in journals\, such as IEEE Transactions on Enginee
 ring Management\, Management and Organization Review\, Journal of Cleane
 r Production\, and Technological Forecasting and Social Change\, Interna
 tional Journal of Hospitality Management.\n
