 n\, research and practice experience in the field of midwifery\; after w
 orking as a clinical midwife\, she moved into midwifery education in 198

 ound policy and practice\, health inequalities\, midwifery education\, r
 esearch and practice\, evidence-based practice\, women’s experience of m
 aternity services\, organisation of materni-ty services\, workforce deve
 lopment and communication and health services.\n\nIn addition to this sh
 e has ten years in NHS public appointments as a non-executive director (
 Leeds Health Authority and Leeds PCT) and a Chair (Leeds West PCT) of th
 e NHS trusts. She undertakes a number of professional activities at loca
 l and national level and has been invited to act as a panel member for a
  number of national conferences led by the NHS and the Department of Hea
 lth. She has worked with the Department of Health in an advisory capacit
 y to improve service provision for clients from the black and minority e
 thnic communities and also acts as a national consultant to both public 
 and private sectors in the areas of equal opportunities.
