DESCRIPTION:Join us for the screening of the documentary about the CARLA
 Festival of Anti-Racist and Decolonial Art\, followed by a round-table c
onversation and Q&A. \n\nCultures of Anti-Racism in Latin America (CARLA
) is a project exploring how art practice can challenge racism. It is a
collaboration between researchers from the University of Manchester\, ac
ademic partners in Argentina\, Brazil\, and Colombia\, and artists in th
ose three countries. It resulted in a tri-lingual online exhibition cura
ted by CARLA researchers featuring 21 artists and collectives and over 3
0 artworks.\n\nThe documentary screened during the event focuses on CARL
A's public Festival of Decolonial and Anti-Racist Art held in Manchester
's Contact Theatre in April 2022 which featured many of the artists in p

Latin America whose artistic practice aims at challenging racial discri
mination in their home country. The aim of the event is to generate a co

n America\, but also in the UK.\n\nThe screening will be followed by a r

implications :\n\n- Dr Mónica G. Moreno Figueroa\, Senior Lecturer in So
ciology and Fellow in Social Sciences at Downing College at the Universi
ty of Cambridge and the International Advisor for the CARLA project.\n-
 SuAndi OBE\, a Manchester-based poet\, writer\, and arts curator. She is
also the Cultural Director of the National Black Arts Alliance\, an org
anisation working towards raising the profile of black artists in the UK
.\n\nThe floor will then be open to attendees\, both online and in perso
 n\, for a Q&A session.\n\nThe conversation will be followed by a drinks
reception held in the foyer of the Samuel Alexander Building at the Univ
