Summary: The YOSO model is based around the notion of roles, which are stateless parties that can send a single message for the entire duration of the protocol. The most well-known example of a YOSO protocol is Nakamoto’s Bitcoin, where a miner broadcasts a new block in a given round only if they win the proof-of-work “lottery”. Once the role of a miner in a particular round broadcasts its block, this role never needs to speak again. In this talk we will introduce the YOSO model and we will show how we can leverage the public broadcast channel provided by blockchains to securely compute any function with private inputs.
