The Human Right to Development as a New Foundation for International Economic Law
Professor Dr. Diane Desierto is Professor of Law and Global Affairs, and Faculty Director of the LLM in
International Human Rights Law, at Notre Dame Law School, with a joint appointment as full Professor at the
Keough School of Global Affairs, University of Notre Dame, as well as an honorary appointment as Professor
of International Law and Human Rights from the Philippines Supreme Court's Judicial Academy. She
teaches, researches, and practices international law, international human rights law, international economic
law and development, maritime security, comparative public law, and ASEAN law. She is also a Faculty Fellow
at five of the University's Institutes (Klau Center for Civil and Human Rights, Kellogg Institute of International
Studies, Liu Institute for Asia and Asian Studies, Pulte Institute of Global Development, and Nanovic Institute
of European Studies), Co-Chair of the University Thematic Advisory Committee on Diversity, Equity, and
Inclusion, and Co-Principal Investigator of the Notre Dame Reparations Design and Compliance Lab.
