 e-recorded and captioned.\n\nOne of the most prominent voices in the Bla
 ck-British writing canon\, Roger Robinson is a celebrated poet and music
 ian who has performed around the world. His 2019 poetry collection A Por
 table Paradise\, which included heart-wrenching poems about the Grenfell
  disaster\, being Black British in the UK\, and fatherhood\, won the T.S
 . Eliot Prize and the RSL Ondaatje Prize. He has previously created comm
 issioned work for The National Trust\, London Open House\, BBC\, The Nat
 ional Portrait Gallery and Theatre Royal Stratford East where he also wa
 s associate artist. \n\nIn a new commission written especially for Manch
 ester Literature Festival\, Roger will explore the idea of Black Lives M
 atter and how it pertains to the Black British experience. Roger will pe
 rform his new poems for the first time\, followed by a conversation abou
 t his work with poet Malika Booker. \n\nThis is one of a series of New C
 ommissions supported by an award from the DCMS Culture Recovery Fund and
  presented in partnership with the Centre for New Writing and Creative M
 anchester.\n\nTickets for this event are available on a Pay What You Can
  £6 / £12 / £20 basis. There are also a number of Free tickets available
  for those that need them.\nPlease pay £6 (low income / concession)\, £1
 2 (standard ticket) or £20 (per household). \n\nAny ticket revenue we re
 ceive will help Manchester Literature Festival survive this challenging
