The Pedagogy Development programme is led by Dianne Burns and ensures that all those contributing to Faculty programmes can engage with sound pedagogy and share best practice in teaching, learning and student experience. It is based on four key areas that align with the University's Teaching, Learning and Student vision and Faculty Strategy for Teaching, Learning and Students which are each split into three segments that make up the development framework that is fondly known as the "Wheel". We encourage all those involved in teaching activities across the Faculty of Biology, Medicine and Health to take part in the programme, including those from our education partners in the NHS, Industry and other workplace settings.

Our learners contribute to planning content for the programme and the ethos is one of transformative learning; that is, learning as an active and life-changing process that requires educators not only to challenge learners’ thinking but also be prepared to engage critically and develop their own practice.

Inclusion and a sense of belonging are powerful factors that can influence the success of students in higher education. In this workshop we will discuss the recent findings of research undertaken by us to assess the sense of belonging of our students taking online and blended courses in public health. Your insights and experience will contribute to identifying small actions for more inclusive teaching. You will also have an opportunity to contribute to the Rise online project resource.
