 ol of Law\, Univ. of Manchester.\n\nThe drug and alcohol treatment lands
 cape is changing\, with a new emphasis of the process of recovery from d
 ependence which\, as the government's own strategy nptes\, means 'differ
 ent things to different people'.  There are a multitude of routes to rec
 overy.  Factors that promote or inhibit recovery have both individual an
 d social dimensions and the recovery process requires a 'whole systems' 
 approach that goes far beyond current approaches to promoting recovery. 
  How should researchers make sense of this complex landscape and how can
  research best provide evidence to inform the shifting emphasis?  The ai
 m of this meeting is to start to identify a set of key questions around 
 which we can develop proposals for research and to identify a core group
  of colleagues to take those questions forward.  This is an interactive\
 , interdisciplinary workshop\;  it's an opportunity for researchers\, cl
 inicians / addiction treatment personnel\, policy makers and postgraduat
 e students from different backgrounds to share expertise\, hear new rese
 arch\, develop collaborations and investigate the possibilities for join
