DESCRIPTION:Examining the role of social validity for promoting the effec
 tive adoption and implementation of school-based interventions.\n\nTeach
 ers are regularly expected to adopt and deliver new interventions within
  the classroom. However\, although many of these interventions are evide
 nce-based and have been demonstrated to be effective when piloted\, they
  often fail to achieve the expected outcomes when implemented in the rea
 l-life context of the classroom. Implementation science has identified m
 ultiple factors that may challenge effective implementation\, including 
 barriers relating to characteristics of the intervention\, the implement
 ers\, and the school environment (Durlak and Du Pre\, 2008).\n \nThis pr
 esentation uses a model of social validity (Wolf\, 1978\; Harrison et al
 \, 2016) to draw together the key factors affecting implementation and t
 o explore the reasons for English primary school teachers’ incomplete ad
 option and delivery of the Second Step intervention (Lendrum\, 2016).   
 It asks questions about the potential for the model to be usefully exten
 ded to predict levels of implementation pre-adoption of an intervention 
 (State et al\, 2017)\, and the extent to which this data may then be use
 d to optimise effective implementation and the achievement of the intend
