for non-abelian defect groups\n\nAbstract: Donovan's conjecture states t
hat for any finite p-group P there exist finitely many blocks\, up to Mo
rita equivalence\, with defect group isomorphic to P. I will describe va
rious reduction techniques that can be applied to Donovan's conjecture.
In particular\, I will discuss strong Frobenius numbers and how they hav
e been used to reduce Donovan's conjecture to quasi-simple groups in the
case of abelian defect groups. More recently the same types of reductio
n techniques have been applied to non-abelian defect groups\, proving th
e conjecture for P isomorphic to Q8 x Q8 or Q8 x C_{2^n}. (This is joint
