Stravinsky famously referred to Georgian folk polyphony as “a wonderful treasure that can give for performance more than all the attainments of new music”. Joining us all the way from Tbilisi, Republic of Georgia, Sakhioba showcases some of the most talented of the newest generation of musicians in a thrilling programme of multipart songs in different regional styles. Founded in 2006, the ensemble is directed by Malkhaz Erkvanidze, leading authority in the post-Soviet revival of ancient Georgian church chant and founder of the renowned Anchiskati Choir.
