ABOUT THE EXHIBIT

Immerse yourself in the unique fusion of academia and artistry at an exhibition hosted by the University’s Humanitarian and Conflict Response Institute (HCRI). We’ll be showcasing art and culture inspired by HCRI’s research on challenging global issues and be guided through the displays by distinguished scholars and talented students of humanitarianism.

Discover the intersection of graffiti, art and peace studies through photography from Dr Birte Vogel's groundbreaking research on peace-building; and explore the challenges of and responses to climate change through multimedia narratives created by Dr. Stephanie Sodero and her students.

This exhibit provides a unique opportunity to delve into artistic expressions of research and is a must-visit for those seeking inspiration and knowledge about sustainability and peace.

PRACTICAL INFO

The 'Art in Times of Crisis' exhibit will be held in the reception area of the Student Union (SU) on Oxford Road. Our friends at In Place of War (an art/peace NGO) will also be exhibiting in the SU throughout the weekend, as part of the University's Bicentenary Festival: https://universallymanchester.com/

No need to book - just show up! There will be some short talks about the displays throughout the weekend and we will update this page with timings in due course.

Details of the event are on our blog at: https://blogs.manchester.ac.uk/hcri/2024/05/29/art-in-times-of-crisis-hcri-at-the-universally-manchester-festival-8-9th-june/
