Dr Aneeqa Khan is a University of Manchester at Harwell (UoMaH) Research Fellow in Nuclear Fusion based in the Department of Mechanical, Aerospace and Civil Engineering. Her fellowship is with The University of Manchester, Science and Technology Facilities Council and the UK Atomic Energy Authority. She co-leads Fusion CDT activities at Manchester and is the lead Dalton Champion. Her research interests are in materials and novel joins for nuclear fusion applications.

Dr Paul Wady is I22’s Senior Support Scientist for Sample Environment Development at Diamond Light Source. Paul joined Diamond after 7 years working for The University of Manchester developing sample environments for the Dalton Cumbrian Facility’s proton irradiation beamlines, and mechanical testing environments for UoMaH.

This talk will cover in situ and operando techniques offered by the I22 beamline at Diamond Light Source and toxic and active materials handling generally focussed on by UoMaH. These in situ capabilities available at Harwell are important in research for fusion materials as recently published in the Royce Fusion Materials Roadmap.

This is the eighth seminar in The University of Manchester at Harwell Ideas Forum Imaging series. The aim of this series is to increase networking of academics and researchers across the Faculty of Science and Engineering and the National Laboratories. In doing so, we hope to share expertise and support new collaborations and grant applications.

This seminar will be recorded and available to watch after the event. A zoom link will be sent to attendees the day before the seminar.
