11am-4pm. Make your own bug art inspired by the Museum’s bug collection and artwork by students from Stockport College at our Bug Art Big Saturday. Activities include making origami Cicadas, bug headbands, bug badges, printing and stop motion animation. You can also get a closer look at some of the insects from the Museum’s collection, watch a family friendly Bugs and Insects film or watch maggots creating abstract art.
Bug Art Big Saturday is brought to you by Arts, Design & Media students from Stockport College in partnership with The Manchester Museum. Working with Dmitri Logunov the museum’s Curator of Arthropods the students were given the challenge to create artworks in response to different insects, exploring not only the physical appearance of the creature but also the historical and symbolic aspects of it. Come along and see their work and create your own BugArt.
