Title: Algebraic varieties and automorphic functions
Abstract: The existential closedness problem studies the intersections of algebraic varieties with the graph of a specified function. Its current formulation comes from the work of Zilber on pseudoexponentiation, and it has now spread across many important functions in number theory. I will talk about some results concerning this problem in the setting of automorphic functions, which appear in the construction of Shimura varieties. This is joint work with Roy Zhao.
