In conversation with Amber Evans, Lucy Shelton will share insights into the ways that post-tonal, modernist music moves from score to performance, focusing on Shelton's own pedagogical practice and 'hacks'.

Drawing on her long career and personal experience of working directly with some of the most celebrated and notorious figures in postwar modernist composition, we will gain insights into how Shelton navigates this repertoire, with opportunities to consider the historical, archival, analytical and creative implications, and ultimately new frames for thinking about music that is too often dismissed as merely hard work.
