Seminar with Professor Pranab Bardhan (Distinguished Professor Emeritus of Economics at University of California, Berkeley).
We are happy to welcome Professor Pranab Bardhan, one of the leading thinkers of Development Economics, to the GDI on 7 June 2024. Professor Bardhan will talk about his recently published book, "Charaiveti: An Academic's Global Journey" (Harper Collins India, 2023), a memoir providing a fascinating account of his richly varied and widely-travelled life, interwoven with thoughtful comments on politics and society both in India and abroad, and on some major strands of international intellectual debates. During the session, Prof Bardhan will give a general introduction to the book and read some select passages. This will be followed by a discussion with Prof Kunal Sen, as well as an audience Q & A. The session will be chaired by Prof David Hulme and is open to all.
