Presented by Imelda McDermott and Jonathan Hammond. Although discourse analysis has gained popularity in social research, there has been less attention on linguistic analysis of texts. Text analysis is an essential part of discourse analysis and this kind of ‘micro’ analysis provides a valuable supplement to other methods of analysis. This session shows examples of how to analyse both spoken (interviews) and written (policy documents) texts.
