In this in-person talk, Prof Harry Wu examines how can China rise to the challenges of growth slowdown and productivity deterioration.
The talk begins with China's growth decline over the last decade and productivity deterioration since the 1990s to revisit the features and fundamental problems of the China model of growth post reform. With industry examples, it explains why only a full fledged market-oriented reform may revitalize the Chinese economy and what that may impact on the world economy.

Biography: Prof. Harry X. Wu is a Research Professor of Economics in the National School of Development at Peking University. He is also Director of the NSD Growth Laboratory. Prof. Wu is a renowned expert on measurement of economic performance and productivity in China in the long-run. He also works on the economic history of political economy of economic reform in China.
