Little Painting Challenge at the Whitworth.
Winners and 1000 entries from The Little Painting Challenge competition will go on display at the Whitworth, one of the most remarkable galleries in the North. A £15 million development has recently transformed this much-loved gallery, creating some spectacular new spaces in the Whitworth, Manchester’s gallery in the park.

Little Painting Challenge Family Friendly Weekend (Bank Holiday weekend 2-4 May 2015)
This special bank holiday weekend is full of free family activities exploring art and imagination.
Saturday 2 May:
Outdoor Art Club, in the Art Garden.
(Ages 8 years +, 10am-12pm, bookable online - details to follow.)
A workshop that brings art, nature and creativity together. Learn how the natural world has always inspired artists and how they have worked in the great outdoors on a small-scale. Explore and experiment with natural materials in the park, whatever the weather (come dressed for rain and shine).

Draw-a-long with CBBC’s Michelle Ackerley (Totally Rubbish).
(All ages, 2-3.30pm, drop-in - details to follow.)
In this family-friendly, fully interactive event Michelle will lead a fun art session. Learn new drawing skills, have a go at drawing characters and their surroundings and create your own postcard sized artworks to take home.

Curator and Little Picture Challenge judge Helen Stalker explores artists who have been inspired to work on a small scale and takes a look at some of the finest examples from our collection.

Weekly multi-sensory activity for early years children in our new Clore Learning Studio. This free, drop-in space becomes a laboratory for trying out ideas and playing with materials - exploring mark-making through paint – it will be messy!.
