Will Hutton is currently the principal of Hertford College, Oxford. He was previously chief executive of the Work Foundation from 2000 to 2008 and editor in chief of the Observer. He started his career as an equity salesman for a stockbroker before acquiring an MBA at INSEAD. Will’s status as a leading centre left advocate of stakeholder capitalism and the European model was established in the 1990s: first, in his columns as economics editor of the Guardian; and then, as author of The State We‘re In, a book which captured the mood which led to New Labour’s 1997 electoral victory.
