Artificial Intelligence, between industrial dynamics and industrial policy

In this talk, I will combine three of my ongoing projects to offer a bird's eye view of important trajectories in AI economics research: whether AI is poised to follow industry-life cycle patterns; whether software-hardware tandems in AI and robotics are driven by specific actors and business models; whether we can quantify countries' struggle to achieve technological sovereignty in AI measuring integration of competences.

About Simone Vannuccini:

Simone Vannuccini is the Junior Professor Chair in Economics of Artificial Intelligence and Innovation at GREDEG and the University Côte d'Azur (UniCA), Nice, France. There, with his team, he leads the research and teaching on the topic of Economics of AI. Prof Vannuccini has been holding teaching and research positions at the Science Policy Research Unit (SPRU) of the University of Sussex, Imperial College London, the Friedrich Schiller University Jena (Germany), and the University of Insubria (Italy). Prof. Vannuccini’s research focuses on the 'irregular regularities' of technology evolution, the economics of AI, industrial dynamics, science, technology and innovation policy, and the economics of digitalisation
