Supported by the SEED Impact Fund, Migrants: Joy, Rest & Celebration is a short film by Sheril A. Bustaman with Dr Nadiah Ahmad in collaboration with MIDEQ partners at the University of Manchester Dr Tanja Bastia and Matthew Walsham, looking at the activities of Nepali migrant workers in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia during Hari Raya Aidilfitri (known globally as Eid), the most celebrated public holiday in the Muslim-majority country. The short film takes a peek into the lives of the migrant workers through a gender lens, seeing how they spend the national holiday placemaking and creating their own version of joy, rest and celebration.
The screening and discussion is followed by a drinks reception at 5pm.
