The need for international cooperation has never been greater. The "triple planetary crisis" of climate change, biodiversity loss, and pollution is a global threat that requires global solutions. But what are the routes for academic research to influence decision-making on an international scale?
Join Sustainable Futures and Policy@Manchester for an inspiring event where you will learn how the University of Manchester's research and expertise have shaped international sustainability policy through diverse real-world examples.
Attendees will join a live panel Q&A with academics who have worked with international policymakers followed by a hands-on workshop led by Policy@Manchester, providing an introduction to routes for research impact through policy engagement at local, national, and international levels.
They will also learn about the University of Manchester’s accreditation with the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP)- the UN's overarching institution on the environment - and opportunities to get involved.
The panel will be chaired by Professor Mike Shaver, Professor of Polymer Science & Director of Sustainable Futures, who will be joined by:
Diana Mitlin - Professor of Global Urbanism in the Global Development Institute and CEO of the African Cities Research Consortium
Matthew Paterson - Professor of International Politics and Director of the Sustainable Consumption Institute
